Job summary

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) seeks a Transportation Engineer to join our Charleston, WV practice. You will collaborate with licensed engineers on municipal, WVDOH/DOT, and private transportation projects, gaining exposure across all project phases.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and at least 2 years of roadway/transportation experience. OpenRoads or Civil 3D experience is expected; EI/EIT is preferred, with DOT exposure a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of roadway/transportation engineering experience.
• Experience with OpenRoads or Civil 3D.
• EI/EIT preferred.
• DOT/DOH project exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design and preparation of transportation improvement projects for municipal, WVDOH/DOT, and private development clients.
• Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and technical evaluations related to roadway and transportation infrastructure projects.
• Support geometric design, drainage design, construction staging, and plan production activities.
• Prepare design quantities, cost estimates, and supporting project documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, survey, geotechnical, and environmental professionals.
• Participate in project planning, design development, and project delivery efforts while gaining exposure to all phases of transportation engineering projects.
• Develop technical skills in roadway design, drainage, plan production, and project delivery through hands-on project experience, mentorship, and support toward professional licensure.
