Job summary

State of Tennessee in Nashville is seeking a Transportation Engineer to deliver discipline-specific technical expertise within TDOT's Transportation Design Division. You will work on projects ensuring scope, schedule, and budget alignment while mentoring staff and coordinating with project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer license required.
• At least 4 years of demonstrated competency in developing and/or constructing transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME in discipline-specific project activities.
• Coordinate with Project Manager and Project Team within a matrix organization regarding impacts to scope, schedule, or budget.
• Perform discipline-specific activities per the Project Delivery Network (PDN).
• Assist with multidisciplinary reviews for projects as part of QA process.
• Design, implement, and operate Transportation Systems Management and Operations strategies including emerging technologies.
• Participate in Risk Management Assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Identify conflicts in proposed designs and coordinate proactive solutions with other disciplines.
• Participate in scope development, consultant contract administration across project phases.
• Attend and represent TDOT in public meetings, addressing customer needs and concerns.
• Mentor staff and cultivate communication and leadership within TDOT.
