Job summary
Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking a Transportation Engineer 2 to support access management in Union Gap, WA. The role involves reviewing and processing access connection permits, researching records, and responding to public inquiries while inspecting work for compliance and safety of the state highway system.
Preferred candidates hold an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and have experience with design, construction, traffic, materials, or program
Qualifications
- Foundational civil/structural/transportation knowledge from formal education or equivalent on‑the‑job experience (e.g., TE1).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specs, manuals and standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication for diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency with CAD/engineering software used for design, analysis, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Review and process access connection permits on state highways.
- Research deeds, permits, ROW plans and related records.
- Respond to public inquiries about access.
- Inspect permitted work for compliance with permit requirements.
