Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) seeks a Transportation Engineer 2 to join the Port Angeles Project Engineer Office, supporting highway construction project delivery, safety, quality, and capacity improvements.

You will serve as designer, inspector, and project administrator, developing designs, reviewing estimates, performing construction inspections, managing documentation and payments, and coordinating with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Foundational engineering knowledge in civil/transportation principles.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply contract plans and specs.
• Experience with field inspections and documentation.
• Skill in preparing daily field reports and tracking quantities.
• Ability to support design documentation, estimates, and contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Inspect highway construction projects for compliance with plans and standards.
• Develop engineering designs and estimates to support project delivery.
• Perform design-build quality verification and coordinate with project teams.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, design changes, and project closeout activities.
• Prepare progress estimates, change orders, and contract documentation.
