JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this classification is to direct, develop, plan, and control the operations of the Transportation Department, including the planning, design, operations, and maintenance of the City of Roswell roadway network. This classification is responsible for formulating policy recommendations and procedures; developing and obtaining resources; directing operations through subordinate supervisors; assessing operations; and identifying current and projected transportation needs and developing plans to meet those needs. Under the general direction of the Deputy City Administrator for Infrastructure, the Transportation Director has the ultimate responsibility for the delivery of transportation services for the City of Roswell.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSEducation and Experience: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, transportation, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred; ten (10) years of experience in engineering or project management, or equivalent education and experience.
Licenses or Certifications: Must possess and maintain a Professional Engineer’s license in Georgia and a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of transportation codes and regulations; ability to apply policies; strong leadership and organizational skills; proficiency in operating relevant equipment and software; mathematical and analytical skills; judgment and decision-making abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is light, involving moderate effort, some lifting, and extended periods at a computer. Tasks require visual and auditory perception, communication, and physical mobility.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a typical office environment with no adverse conditions expected.
