Job Description:

Kinect Solar is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Manager to lead and optimize our transportation operations across all modes. The ideal candidate possesses a comprehensive understanding of various transportation methods, including full truckload (FTL), less than truckload (LTL), drayage, intermodal, and specialized transport for hazmat and high-value cargo. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven ability to build and manage a complex transportation network, negotiate with carriers, and ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods.

Responsibilities:

• Transportation Planning & Execution:
  • Plan and execute the transportation of goods across all modes (FTL, LTL, drayage, intermodal, air, ocean)
  • Manage and optimize transportation routes, schedules, and modes to minimize costs and ensure timely delivery
  • Oversee carrier selection, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, including those for hazmat, high-value cargo, and international shipments
  • Collaborate with internal teams (sales, warehousing, customer service) to ensure seamless order fulfillment and customer satisfaction
• Network Development & Optimization:
  • Design, implement, and manage a robust and adaptable transportation network to support business growth and changing demands
  • Identify and evaluate potential carriers and transportation partners
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize transportation costs, including load consolidation, route optimization, and mode selection
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in transportation management
• Specialized Transportation Management:
  • Develop and implement procedures for handling specialized shipments, including hazmat materials, high-value cargo, and temperature-sensitive goods (reefer)
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and security regulations for specialized transportation
  • Manage relationships with specialized carriers and service providers
• Technology & Data Analysis:
  • Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant technologies to track shipments, manage carriers, and analyze performance data
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor transportation efficiency, cost, and service levels
  • Leverage data analysis to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous optimization
• Team Leadership & Communication:
  • Lead and mentor a team of transportation specialists and coordinators
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement
  • Effectively communicate transportation updates, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders across the organization

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in transportation management, with demonstrated expertise in handling FTL, LTL, drayage, intermodal, hazmat, and high-value cargo
• Proven ability to build and manage a complex transportation network
• Strong understanding of transportation regulations, including DOT, FMCSA, and international shipping regulations
• Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant technologies
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
