Job summary

Actalent in Downers Grove, IL is seeking a Transportation Engineer to lead plan development for transportation design projects, including geometry, earthwork modeling, and 3D roadway modeling, using MicroStation/OpenRoads on IDOT and Tollway work.

You will coordinate with regulatory agencies, utility companies, and subconsultants, oversee projects from start to finish, mentor junior engineers, and work in a hybrid environment with 2 days in-office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer license or near obtaining preferred.
• At least five years of transportation/roadway engineering experience related to IDOT or Tollway.
• Proficiency in transportation and roadway design.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with clients and manage projects independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop plans for transportation design projects including geometric design and modeling.
• Utilize MicroStation/OpenRoads for design work on IDOT and Tollway projects.
• Assess and recommend changes to designs as necessary.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, utility companies, and subconsultants.
• Oversee projects from inception to completion.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.
