Job summary

DOWL is seeking an enthusiastic Civil/Transportation Intern for summer 2027 in Fairbanks, AK. You will assist transportation and civil teams with data gathering, drafting, and design support, gaining hands-on experience across multiple disciplines.

You will work under mentorship, contributing to field work, inspections, and documentation while developing CAD and analytical skills in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• One to two years of college-level coursework pursuing a baccalaureate degree in civil engineering.
• Desirable prior work in construction or civil engineering fields.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field investigations and analyze alternative solutions for project design.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of design projects.
• Tabulate bid items and estimate construction costs from plans and specs.
• Provide AutoCAD drafting support for project packages.
• Prepare and route project-related correspondence and records.
