Job summary

WSP USA is offering a 12-week Civil Engineering Intern position based in our Downtown Chicago, IL office. This internship is designed for undergraduates or graduates with a graduation date of December 2027 or later, to gain hands-on experience on real projects with senior staff guidance.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering program.
• Interest in Transportation/ Roadway Design and related field.
• Strong communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Ability to take direction from mentors and managers.
• Proficiency with technical writing, spreadsheets, and standard office tools.
• Commitment to workplace safety and company policies.
• Authorized to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Civil Transportation Design Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Assist in preparing final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Help collect and maintain project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.
• Perform additional tasks as needed by business needs.
