Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience with advanced analytics in academic or professional settings.
• Master's degree in Transportation Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent discipline; or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Mine and analyze structured and unstructured data, including crash records and demographics, to identify patterns.
• Apply statistical and machine-learning methods to transportation safety and planning problems.
• Evaluate model fit, assess uncertainty, and document methods and results for reproducibility.
• Identify and recommend new applications for existing data sources.
• Extract and clean data from multiple sources; ensure data quality.
• Use Python, R, SQL to automate data preparation, analysis, and reporting; maintain code docs.
• Apply safety methods like crash prediction and systemic safety screening.
• Prepare and distribute analytical findings with visualizations and reports.
• Collaborate with manager and senior data scientists for guidance.
• Participate in professional development; ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
