Job summary

Oppy, a leading grower, marketer and distributor of fresh produce, is seeking a Transportation Coordinator to join our operations team in a fast-paced environment across North America.   • Maintains computerized information and records (load status, 3PL orders, on-time arrival statistics) and approves invoices for payment.
  • Coordinates after-hours shipping and receiving and tracks deliveries to ensure timely completion, communicating potential delays.
  • Investigates and resolves transportation-related issues, escalating complex problems as needed.
  • Generates accurate, timely reports and contributes to a culture of teamwork and customer focus.

Overview

The Transportation Coordinator plays a vital role in coordinating transportation activities to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of products in accordance with company policies and procedures. Receives product delivery orders and arranging schedules for the dispatch of appropriate transport vehicles at designated locations, working closely with storage facilities, transport companies, and sales personnel. Performs data entry and maintains computerized information and records, including load status, 3PL orders, and on-time arrival statistics. Proactively schedules after-hours shipping and receiving, tracking deliveries to ensure timely completion, and promptly communicating any potential problems to stakeholders. Exercises strong problem-solving skills and good judgement in investigating and resolving transportation-related issues, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Performs timely report generation will be a key responsibility, following established policies and procedures. Fosters a customer-focused, cooperative, and team-oriented culture and a positive working environment.

Accountabilities
  • Receives product delivery orders from internal and external contacts, collaborating with storage facilities, transport companies, and sales personnel to effectively coordinate transportation activities in adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Arranges schedules and dispatches suitable transport vehicles for product loading at designated locations. Engages in regular communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of delivery requirements.
  • Receives, inputs, and maintains computerized information and records, such as load status, 3PL orders, and on-time arrival statistics, in compliance with company standards, policies, and procedures. Performs timely review and approval of invoices for payment to external stakeholders.
  • Coordinates after-hours shipping and receiving schedules and diligently track deliveries to ensure successful completion. Proactively communicates with stakeholders to keep them informed of potential problems or delays.
  • Investigates and resolves transportation-related issues in a timely manner, liaising with both internal and external stakeholders. Escalates complex problems to the appropriate department or individual for swift resolution.
  • Generates accurate and timely reports as required, adhering to established policies and procedures to provide relevant insights and information.
  • Contributes to fostering a customer-focused, cooperative, and team-oriented culture that aligns with the company’s core values.
Required Knowledge & Abilities
  • Knowledge of the standards, procedures, and regulations in the transportation industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (including Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication (written & verbal) and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and forge strong relationships within the category team and all other stakeholders.
  • Strong organization and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple demands in a timely manner without compromising the quality or accuracy of work.
  • Self-motivated with high standards and attention to detail; ability to set priorities and work accurately within tight deadlines in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability in exercising good judgement while maintaining confidentiality; demonstrates a high level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism at all times.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process improvement, optimizing workflow efficiency, and achieving team objectives within the organization.

  • Ability to be available for on-call support and/or weekends as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree, diploma in business with a focus on supply chain management is an asset.
  • Minimum, 2-years’ related experience in transportation, logistics, and/or supply chain; previous experience in the transportation of fresh produce and/or perishable products is an asset.
