Job summary

Fehr & Peers in Orlando, FL seeks an experienced transportation planning or engineering consultant with 8–12 years of experience to grow our Central Florida practice and deliver exceptional client work.

This hybrid role requires leading projects, developing client relationships, mentoring staff, and contributing to proposals and business development while collaborating with public agencies and private clients across the region.

Qualifications

  • Approximately 8–12 years of transportation planning or engineering consulting experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex transportation projects from proposal through delivery.
  • Experience developing client relationships and contributing to practice growth through business development and repeat work.
  • Established relationships and experience working with Florida State and local agencies, institutional clients, developers, and private-sector organizations, with strong knowledge of the Central Florida transportation market.
  • Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
  • A collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring and developing staff.
  • Professional registration (PE or AICP, as appropriate) or the ability to obtain it if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead transportation planning and engineering projects from pursuit through successful delivery, serving as the primary point of contact for clients and project teams.
  • Manage and deliver transportation planning and/or engineering projects in one or more of the following areas, depending on your background: corridor studies, transportation impact analyses, multimodal plans, active transportation projects, safety analysis, mobility impact fees, traffic operations analyses, transportation system planning, travel demand forecasting, conceptual design, and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for transportation engineering projects, including complete streets, bikeways, traffic signal, signing/striping, and lighting projects.
  • Manage direct client interaction and communication with members of the public through community engagement.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with public agencies, private-sector clients, developers, institutions, and other partners throughout the region.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to client strategy, proposals, interviews, and long-term relationship development.
  • Collaborate with office and regional leadership to grow Fehr & Peers' presence and reputation in the local market.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by understanding clients' goals and delivering practical, innovative transportation solutions.
  • Mentor and develop staff while fostering collaborative, high-performing project teams.
  • Contribute to the long-term success of theOrlandooffice through leadership, collaboration, and practice growth.

At Fehr & Peers, our most successful consultants combine technicalexpertisewith strong client relationships, business development, and project leadership.We'reseeking an experienced transportation planning or engineering consultant withapproximately 8–12 years of experience who is excited to continue growing our presence in the Central Florida area while delivering exceptional work for our clients.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing project delivery with business development, hasestablishedrelationships within the Central Florida transportation market, and is motivated to help expand our practice while mentoring others. The position follows a hybrid schedule, with an expectation of at least three days per week in our downtown Orlando office.

What You'll Do
