Transportation Construction Manager

Ranked #50 on Engineering News-Record's Top 500 Design Firms, we are seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals to join our Central PA Team.

Our primary clients include the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and other local agencies. The successful candidate will serve as a principal inspector, overseeing construction inspection projects.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and standards.
• Assign, schedule, and oversee inspection staff throughout all project phases.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, ensuring it reflects construction progress, activities, and materials, and complies with environmental, safety, EEO, and DBE requirements.
• Prepare, review, and submit inspection reports, work authorizations, and estimates.
• Notify contractors of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Review and analyze contractor schedules.
• Monitor project progress, identify overruns, and communicate critical issues.
• Conduct analysis of field tests.
• Attend project meetings, assist with change orders, claims, and provide progress updates.
• Engage with the public, government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to address inquiries.
• Draft correspondence, facilitate meetings, and resolve field issues on behalf of the client.

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Strong computer skills.
• Certifications including NICET Level 2+ in Transportation/Highway Construction, NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician, ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician.
• Valid driver's license and successful completion of JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 8+ years of construction inspection experience.
• Knowledge of construction techniques, plans, procedures, and materials.
• Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection.
• Ability to act as Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with local clients.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• Previous PennDOT or PA Turnpike inspection experience.
