DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position leads a construction inspection team and supports the successful delivery of highway construction projects in District 5. As a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

• Project Oversight: Supervise inspection activities to ensure compliance with plans, standards, and contract requirements
• Field Inspection: Check materials, elevations, stakeouts, and workmanship during construction operations
• Technical Guidance: Interpret contract requirements and instruct staff in inspection, sampling, and testing methods
• Problem Solving: Assist with resolving field issues, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate documentation
• Team Leadership: Assign work, evaluate performance, guide staff development, and support training needs
• Communication Support: Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and staff to share updates and address project concerns

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Overtime and travel as needed
• You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period after successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Allentown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,008 (before taxes).

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

• This position requires possession of a valid non- commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
