Job summary

Mead & Hunt, Inc. in Lexington, SC, invites applications for a Construction Inspector to join our Transportation Group. You will inspect transportation construction projects, verify materials, and document activities with minimal supervision in varied outdoor environments.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Construction Management or related field, or four years of relevant experience. Certifications such as SCDOT CEPSCI are desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field.
• Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or related field plus two years of relevant experience.
• If no degree, at least four years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspect Transportation Construction Projects: Ensure all work and materials meet project plans, proposals, and specifications.
• Perform Key Measurements & Calculations: Verify weights, volumes, and measurements to ensure accuracy.
• Conduct Materials Testing & Sampling: Ensure materials meet quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Daily Documentation: Record all inspection activities and findings in detailed reports.
• Work Outdoors: Enjoy the variety of working in different weather conditions and environments.
• Physical Responsibilities: Be prepared for heavy lifting and manual tasks as part of the inspection process.
• Independent Work: Take ownership of your tasks and work with minimal supervision.
• Flexible Hours & Travel: Expect extended hours and occasional overnight stays as part of the role.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field

Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or related field
