Mackin Engineers & Consultants is seeking a qualified Transportation Construction Inspector 1 (TCI-1) in our Pittsburgh, PA office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction inspection, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform roadway inspection in accordance with project requirements, plans, and specifications, such as grade elevations, stakeout of roadway and structure, bituminous or concrete, drainage, signing, traffic control devises, and excavation.
- Monitor contractor progress to ensure compliance with contract requirements and cost estimates.
- Conduct field inspections to assess work quality, materials used, and adherence to safety regulations.
- Document and report any discrepancies, non-compliance issues, or deviations from project plans.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to address construction challenges and ensure timely project completion.
- Maintain accurate records of construction activities, inspections, and test results.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, project team members, and regulatory agencies to resolve issues and ensure project success.
- Assist in the review and interpretation of project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Participate in meetings, site visits, and project discussions as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in construction inspection or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Experience with PennDOT, PA Turnpike, Municipal, and/or water line/sewer line projects is desired.
- High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of Deltek Ajera, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and familiarity with using Computers, Printers, and Electronics.
- Familiarity with construction contracts, plans, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and report issues accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Experience with Electronic Construction Management System (ECMS) and PennDOT Project Collaboration Center (PPCC) is a plus but not required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
