Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson seeks Transportation Construction Inspection professionals for our Central PA Team. The role involves applying inspection procedures to ongoing construction to ensure safety, quality, and conformance to plans. TN visa eligibility is limited to qualified cases.

The successful candidate will work with PennDOT, PA Turnpike, and local agencies, performing field tests and documentation in support of building standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; may be substituted for experience.
• 1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, layouts, specifications and methods to ensure compliance with laws and safety rules.
• Performs routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure conformance with plans and codes.
• Gathers and maintains record documents.
• Makes field notes and computations.

JMT’s is seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals to join our Central PA Team. Our primary clients are the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and other Local Government agencies throughout our Central PA Region.
The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.
Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
• Performs routine tests on concreate, soils and other materials
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.
• Gathers and maintains record documents
• Makes field notes and computations

Required Skills

• Active driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Preferred Skills

• Client Requested certifications, including: NICET Level 1 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
• NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician
• CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
• 1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience

Preferred Experience

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• Previous PennDOT and or PA Turnp
