Job Description

JMT is seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals to join our Central PA Team, which works with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and other local government agencies throughout the Central PA region.

Applicants must be eligible for the TN visa classification; immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes.
• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
• Gather and maintain record documents.
• Make field notes and calculations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Computer proficiency.
• Active driver’s license and successful completion of JMT’s motor vehicle screening.

Preferred Skills

• Client‑requested certifications such as NICET Level 1 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction.
• NECEPT‑Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician.
• ACI Concrete Field‑Testing Technician.
• CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience).
• 1–4 years of Construction Inspection experience.

Preferred Experience

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Previous PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike inspection experience.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Candidates must be able to perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Work may be conducted outside under heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
