Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking inspectors to staff PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike assignments, with immigration sponsorship not available except TN visa cases. Roles involve field inspection and materials testing for compliance with plans, specifications and safety regulations.

Candidates should have a high school diploma (or equivalent) with 1–4 years of construction inspection experience; associate/bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; may be substituted for experience.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
• Certification as requested by client may be required.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, layouts, specifications and construction methods for compliance with laws and safety regulations.
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and pavement per plans and codes.
• Gather and maintain record documents.
• Record field notes and computations.

JMT's Pittsburgh Construction Management Team is seeking inspectors to staff PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike assignments.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
• Performs routine tests on concreate, soils and other materials
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.
• Gathers and maintains record documents
• Makes field notes and computations

Nonessential Functions And Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Computer proficiency
• Active driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
• 1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience

• Client Requested certifications

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
