Job summary

Burns & McDonnell’s Transportation Design-Build practice seeks a proven Design Manager to support our Alternative Delivery team across the Midwest, South, and southeastern U.S. You will collaborate with national leadership to grow our portfolio and lead pursuits, staffing, and project delivery with a focus on excellence and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited program and 10 years related engineering, consulting, project management, or alternate delivery experience.
• Experience managing complex transportation design or design-build projects.
• Experience with proposal development, project planning, budget management, scheduling, and client coordination.
• Experience working with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and manage multiple concurrent assignments.
• Strong collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to positively influence others and effectively manage project execution activities.
• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information to clients, leadership, and project teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• DBIA certification preferred and PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and execution of Transportation alternate delivery business initiatives and project goals.
• Facilitate communication and coordination among regional offices and project stakeholders.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams through pursuit and project execution activities.
• Assist with business development efforts and participate in industry events.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Develop pursuit strategies and assist with proposals and interviews.
• Develop scope of services for pre- and post-award phases.
• Coordinate staffing and resources with design leadership.
• Manage design efforts for alternate delivery pursuits and active projects.
• Monitor budgets, schedules, deliverables, and performance metrics.
• Provide guidance to project managers and design professionals.
• Ensure compliance with quality control procedures and delivery standards.
• Support diversity initiatives and safety policies.
• Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams.
• Participate in employee development and performance feedback.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
