The Lincoln Center for Family and Youth (TLC) is seeking a Transportation Aide (Part-time) to provide safe, supportive transportation for a high-needs student in a Special Education program, assisting with boarding, exiting, and transitions.

You will monitor the student’s behavior and well-being during travel, follow safety procedures, and communicate with the driver, school staff, and family as appropriate. Morning pickups, 1-3 hours, M-F.

  • Must be cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe, supportive, and respectful transportation for a high-needs student in a Special Education program.
  • Assists with boarding, exiting, and safely transitioning to and from transportation.
  • Monitors the student’s behavior and well-being during travel.
  • Follows individualized safety and behavioral procedures.
  • Communicates effectively with the driver, school staff, and family as appropriate.
  • Maintains a calm, structured environment.
  • The Transportation Aide may assist with mobility needs, personal care, securing adaptive equipment, and responding to concerns per school policies and the student’s plan.

Position Summary

Provides safe, supportive, and respectful transportation assistance for a high-needs student participating in a Special Education program.

  • Assisting the student with boarding, exiting, and safely transitioning to and from transportation
  • Monitoring the student’s behavior and well-being during travel
  • Following individualized safety and behavioral procedures
  • Communicating effectively with the driver, school staff, and family as appropriate
  • Maintaining a calm, structured environment.
  • The Transportation Aide may also assist with mobility needs, personal care as assigned, securing adaptive equipment, and responding appropriately to behavioral or medical concerns in accordance with school policies and the student’s individualized plan
Physical Demands
  • Ability to reach above and below the waist
  • Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
  • Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion
  • Considerable bending and twisting of the body required
  • Some stooping and squatting

Experience

Work Environment
  • Morning pick up at client’s home and transport to local school building.
  • 1-3 hours, M-F
