Job summary

Prosper Health & Rehab is seeking a Transport Driver to safely operate the facility vehicle and transport residents to appointments and activities. You will assist residents boarding and disembarking, maintain the vehicle, and keep accurate records of trips and mileage.

Requirements include CPR/BLS certification or within 30 days of hire, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record. One year of healthcare experience is preferred, with strong focus on safety and compassionate patient

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Transport residents using facility vehicles and assist with boarding/disembarking as needed.
• Ensure emergency medical information is available for transported participants.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and arrange routine or episodic maintenance.
• Keep daily trip and mileage records and report any vehicle issues to supervisor.
• Transport participants to medical appointments and activities as coordinated.

Position Summary:

The Transport Driver is responsible for driving the facility vehicle to transport residents to desired destinations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides physical assistance to each participant when needed as he/she boards and disembarks from the program’s vehicles.
• Ensures that emergency medical information is available for those participants being transported.
• Maintains the first aid kit in the vehicle, replacing supplies as they are used or become outdated.
• Ensures that all passengers wear safety belts and wheelchairs are locked into position.
• Maintains vehicle in neat and clean condition anticipating needed mechanical service so appointments can be arranged that are convenient to program operations.
• Keeps vehicle maintenance records current; coordinate and schedule routine and episodic vehicle maintenance.
• Reports to Supervisor any vehicle operating problems, malfunctions or incidents out of the ordinary routine.
• Maintains accurate daily records of number of trips, individuals transported, miles and gallons of gas.
• Compiles all necessary information to meet reporting requirements.
• Transports participants to and from physician or other medical appointments, as requested
• Assists with program activities by transporting participants to an event, as coordinated by the activities manager.
• Establishes and maintains communication with patients and coworkers to improve quality of service and customer satisfaction.
• Lifts patients in and out of bed, chairs, taxis and ambulances to move them to and from treatment areas and procedure rooms.
• Transports medical equipment, supplies, documents and laboratory specimens to designated treatment, diagnostic and patient care areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1+ year in experience in a healthcare setting preferred
• CPR/BLS certification or must be obtained within 30 days of hire
• Clean driving record
• Valid Driver’s License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds.
