Job summary

The Cascades at Delray Senior Living is seeking a Transport Driver in Florida to move residents using the facility vehicle, assist with boarding and disembarking, and ensure safety during transport.

You will maintain medical information, keep the first aid kit stocked, and ensure belts are fastened and wheelchairs secured. The role also involves documenting trips and coordinating with staff for timely transport.

Qualifications

• 1+ year in experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Clean driving record.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical assistance to participants when boarding and disembarking from vehicles.
• Ensures emergency medical information is available for transported participants.
• Maintains first aid kit in the vehicle and replaces supplies as needed.
• Ensures passengers wear safety belts and wheelchairs are locked in position.
• Maintains vehicle cleanliness and coordinates routine maintenance.
• Keeps vehicle maintenance records up to date and schedules maintenance.
• Reports vehicle issues to Supervisor and documents incidents.
• Maintains daily records of trips, participants transported, miles and gas usage.
• Compiles information to meet reporting requirements.
• Transports participants to medical appointments as requested.
• Assists with activities by transporting participants to events.
• Establishes and maintains communication with patients and coworkers.
• Lifts patients in/out of beds, chairs, taxis, and ambulances as needed.
• Transports medical equipment, supplies, documents and specimens as required.

OVERVIEW:

The Transport Driver is responsible for driving the facility vehicle to transport residents to desired destinations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides physical assistance to each participant when needed as he/she boards and disembarks from the program’s vehicles.
• Ensures that emergency medical information is available for those participants being transported.
• Maintains the first aid kit in the vehicle, replacing supplies as they are used or become outdated.
• Ensures that all passengers wear safety belts and wheelchairs are locked into position.
• Maintains vehicle in neat and clean condition anticipating needed mechanical service so appointments can be arranged that are convenient to program operations.
• Keeps vehicle maintenance records current; coordinate and schedule routine and episodic vehicle maintenance.
• Reports to Supervisor any vehicle operating problems, malfunctions or incidents out of the ordinary routine.
• Maintains accurate daily records of number of trips, individuals transported, miles and gallons of gas.
• Compiles all necessary information to meet reporting requirements.
• Transports participants to and from physician or other medical appointments, as requested
• Assists with program activities by transporting participants to an event, as coordinated by the activities manager.
• Establishes and maintains communication with patients and coworkers to improve quality of service and customer satisfaction.
• Lifts patients in and out of bed, chairs, taxis and ambulances to move them to and from treatment areas and procedure rooms.
• Transports medical equipment, supplies, documents and laboratory specimens to designated treatment, diagnostic and patient care areas.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the care center.
• Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment.
• Incumbent may be required to work extended periods of time at a video display terminal.
• Incumbent may experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric, and deceased patients.
