Job summary

AMR in Pompano Beach, FL is hiring a Revenue Cycle Transport Authorization Specialist on-site. You will manage authorizations for non-emergency transports, coordinating with Communications, Operations, payors and billing to ensure required paperwork is completed around the time of transport.

This role requires a minimum of one year in full-cycle medical billing, knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid ambulance guidelines, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. EMT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • EMT certification preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in full-cycle medical billing.
  • Experience in the medical/healthcare industry required.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley and related regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Communications to provide guidance on non-emergency transports and required paperwork and/or authorizations.
  • Review non-emergency transports to identify payor and determine if an authorization is required.
  • Obtain authorizations for non-emergency transports.
  • Ensure appropriate service levels are dispatched for non-emergency transports.
  • Manage Authorization work bin to meet payor requirements.
  • Process customer complaints quickly and resolve issues.
  • Build strong relationships with AMR professionals and clients.

Revenue Cycle Transport Authorization Specialist

On-Site: Pompano Beach, FL

Hourly Compensation: $18

Monday - Friday 10am to 6pm Eastern

The Transport Authorization Department (TAD) Specialist is responsible for authorization management of non-emergency transports. TAD Specialists work with Communications, Operations, payors, and billing to ensure appropriate paperwork is obtained before or around the time of the patient’s transport.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with Communications to provide guidance on non-emergency transports and required paperwork and/or authorizations.
  • Review non-emergency transports to identify appropriate payor and determine if an authorization is required.
  • Follow established processes to request and/or obtain authorizations for non-emergency transports.
  • Work with Communications to ensure adequate and appropriate levels of service are dispatched for non-emergency transports.
  • Manage Authorization work bin to ensure payor requirements are met.
  • Process customer complaints quickly by receiving, investigating, redirecting or, resolving the issue.
  • Develop and sustain excellent working relationships with AMR professionals (e.g., Operations, Business Development, IT and Finance), as well as with the Company’s clients, payors, consultants, banks and financial intermediaries and government agencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Licensing/Certification:
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • EMT certification/licensure preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year experience in full-cycle medical billing required
  • Experience in the medical/healthcare industry requiredl>
  • Must have current working knowledge of various computer tools including but not limited to Microsoft Office, QWERTY keyboard, basic hardware and software function
  • Previous experience working in customer service preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
  • General knowledge of medical and insurance industry terminology required
  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid guidelines related to ambulance billing preferred
  • Must have knowledge of HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other critical governmental regulations within one (1) month of hire date
