Job summary

Grant PUD is seeking a Transmission System Planning Engineer to evaluate, plan, and enhance the utility's high‑voltage transmission grid to safely meet future demand. This role may be hired at Engineer I through Principal level, with senior engineers leading complex studies and guiding long‑term expansion efforts, and some remote work options for approved states.

The position requires collaboration across engineering, operations, and external utilities, plus the ability to produce compelling

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in transmission planning or utility engineering.
• Knowledge of power system modeling software such as PowerWorld, PSS/E, or PSLF preferred.
• PE license preferred but not required; strong analytical and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission planning and reliability studies.
• Analyze future system needs, load growth, and expansion projects.
• Conduct power flow, contingency, and system-impact studies.
• Identify constraints and recommend upgrades.
• Develop transmission system models and planning recommendations.
• Support interconnection studies for new customers and generation.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
