Job summary

India is seeking a Design Systems Engineer to join the Chief Engineering team, acting as the main interface between CE and PRC. The role focuses on managing system interfaces within transmission and driveline components, supporting build readiness, and coordinating design reviews to ensure robust DVP actions.

The candidate will lead global teams, manage DFMEA/DRBFM processes, and drive cost reduction efforts while aligning with DVC, ACE, and VO teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years of engineering experience in product development design and release with a minimum of 2 years of propulsion systems experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading collaborative and global teams.
• Understanding of typical automotive manufacturing and quality processes.
• Advanced English language skills 90% (Read and Write).
• Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
• Excellent work ethic, organization skills, and communication skills.
• Goes “above and beyond” always.

Responsibilities

• Transmission and driveline hardware system responsible (integration and system balancing of all components).
• Interfacing with COEs, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Development Validation Center.
• Schedules hardware system design reviews across PRC and reviews DRE design proposals as required.
• Organizes reviews with Virtual Analysis / CAE team and ensures Virtual DVP / Scorecard is completed prior to prototype hardware orders.
• Manages DFMEA / DRBFM reviews to ensure transparency and cohesive Design Controls leading to Robust DVP Actions.
• Manages Assembly (BOM) Part# Complexity Charts incl. Axle & Driveline Systems with defined assemblies.
• Manage Build Readiness Team for prototype orders; confirms proto hardware orders and procurement to meet milestones.
• Coordinate BOM and experimental builds with ACE.
• Leads and manages build readiness tasks (fixtures, dyno support).
• Supports CE & ACE to develop FTE and ER&D/ED&D Cost Roll-ups for Minor/MCA/ New Programs.
• Review and approve all change notices ensuring checklists, LL, and E-BPs updated and aligned.
• Leads Technical Cost Reductions (TCRs) / Value Optimization (VO) with PRC, DVC and VO teams.
• Represents CE in lessons learned and communicates updates to TS and E-BPs.
• Reviews system validation status with DVC and updates CE.
• Coordinates DRBTR follow-ups and issues follow-up with GIMS for problems.
• Manage CQI and GIMS cross-functional teams with ACE to track actions and align initiatives.
• Escalate resource issues as needed (CE & Sr. Manager for PRC).
• Work on special projects as needed.
