Job summary

LVI Associates in Chicago is seeking a Transmission & Substation Project Manager to lead high-voltage transmission and substation projects from planning through closeout. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage schedules and budgets, and drive successful project delivery in a dynamic power-delivery environment.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of PM or construction management experience in power delivery, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and proficiency with Primavera P6;

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project or construction management experience in power delivery.
• Experience managing projects through construction phase.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, PM, or related field.
• Experience with Primavera P6 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage transmission line and substation projects through full lifecycle
• Develop and manage scopes, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and execution plans
• Coordinate across engineering, procurement, permitting, construction, contractors, and utility teams
• Track project costs, schedules, risks, changes, and performance
• Lead recurring project, design, and construction progress meetings
• Manage contractors, consultants, and outside vendors
• Support procurement, bid packages, contractor evaluations, material coordination
• Work with engineering and construction teams to keep projects moving
• Provide regular updates on schedule, cost, risks, issues

Transmission & Substation Project Manager

Chicago, IL Full-Time | Power Delivery

We're partnering with a growing engineering organization looking to add a Transmission & Substation Project Manager to its Chicago-area team. This position will support the delivery of high-voltage transmission line and substation projects, managing projects from early planning and engineering through procurement, construction, and closeout.

This is a great opportunity for someone who understands the technical side of power delivery but enjoys being at the center of project execution, client coordination, scheduling, budgeting, and construction activities.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage transmission line and substation projects throughout the full project lifecycle
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and execution plans
• Coordinate across engineering, procurement, permitting, construction, contractors, and utility teams
• Track project costs, schedules, risks, changes, and overall performance
• Lead recurring project, design, and construction progress meetings
• Manage contractors, consultants, and outside vendors throughout project execution
• Support procurement, bid packages, contractor evaluations, and material coordination
• Work closely with engineering and construction teams to keep projects moving forward
• Provide regular project updates around schedule, cost, risks, and issues
• Build and maintain strong relationships with utility clients and key project stakeholders
• Support projects through construction, commissioning, and final closeout

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of project management or construction management experience within transmission, substation, distribution, or power delivery
• Experience managing projects through the construction phase
• Strong understanding of project schedules, budgets, forecasting, procurement, and contractor management
• Experience coordinating across engineering and construction teams
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field
• Experience with Primavera P6 or similar scheduling/project controls tools is a plus
• PMP certification preferred, but not required depending on experience
