We are seeking a Transmission Planning Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team within our Energy & Systems Solutions division. The manager will provide transmission planning consulting services as both a lead engineer and project manager, contributing to the growth of Leidos Engineering and our Transmission Planning consulting practice.

This role involves managing complex transmission planning studies independently and mentoring junior staff. Studies are conducted for Municipal Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, Regional Planning organizations such as ISOs and RTOs, and for Developer and Independent Power Producer Clients.

Transmission Planning Engineering Manager responsibilities:

  1. Build and maintain client relationships; expand the current client base and contribute to the growth of Transmission Planning services.
  2. Supervise a team of 3-5 engineers, providing work directions and QA/QC reviews.
  3. Engage in sales and business development activities.
  4. Possess a solid understanding of power system analysis concepts, including transmission system planning and NERC reliability standards.
  5. Experience with analytical tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, DSA Tools TSAT, ASPEN, CAPE, EMTP, and PSCAD is highly desirable.
  6. Function effectively both as a team member and leader in transmission studies.
  7. Contribute to technical writing for project proposals and responses to RFIs and RFPs.
  8. Participate and present at industry forums and conferences.
  9. Collaborate with business development managers on new opportunities and contribute to business growth.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 12+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 10+ years.
  2. Experience in transmission analytics such as load flow, stability, protection, and short circuit studies.
  3. Knowledge of power system theories and limitations.
  4. Understanding of transmission policy and regulatory issues, including FERC tariffs, NERC standards, and generator interconnection procedures.
  5. Professional Engineering license preferred.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  7. Strong problem-solving skills in team and independent environments.
  8. Willingness to travel to project and client sites.

Pay Range:

$126,100.00 - $227,950.00

The pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee. Factors such as responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal/external considerations will influence the final offer.
