Qualifications

Job description

Join to apply for the Transmission Planning & Studies Engineer - Senior Level role at POWER Engineers.

Power Engineers is seeking a Senior-level Transmission Planning Engineer. This position is available in multiple POWER office locations with the option for remote work from an acceptable location. The candidate may work remotely full-time and will occasionally travel to a POWER office for meetings.

Roles and Responsibilities

This role requires extensive experience in network studies for utilities and ISOs, with leadership capabilities. Responsibilities include developing computer models and performing power system studies such as feasibility, system impact, reactive compensation, stability, planning, short circuit, load flow, and interconnection modeling. The engineer should participate in proposal writing and client interactions, managing time effectively and communicating complex technical issues clearly to diverse audiences.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • 10+ years in transmission planning system studies
  • Proficiency in PSS/E (minimum 6 years)
  • PE registration or equivalent
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring
  • Knowledge of ERCOT interconnection and study processes
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%
  • Strong communication skills and customer focus
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering
  • Additional experience with other RTOs and software tools like PSLF, TARA, PSCAD, Aspen Oneliner, ETAP, Power World
  • Coding and automation skills
