We are seeking a Transmission Planning Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team within our Energy & Systems Solutions division. The role involves providing transmission planning consulting services as both a lead engineer and project manager, contributing to the expansion of Leidos Engineering and our Transmission Planning practice.

This position requires managing complex transmission studies independently and mentoring junior staff. Studies cater to Municipal Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, Regional Planning organizations such as ISOs and RTOs, and include consulting for Developers and Independent Power Producers.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain client relationships, assist in expanding the client base, and contribute to the growth of Transmission Planning consulting services.
• Manage a team of 3-5 engineers, providing work directions and QA/QC reviews.
• Engage in sales and business development activities.
• Possess a solid understanding of power system analysis, transmission planning, and NERC standards.
• Experience with industry tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, DSA Tools TSAT, ASPEN, CAPE, EMTP, and PSCAD is highly desirable.
• Function both as a team member and leader in transmission studies.
• Contribute to technical proposals and responses to RFIs and RFPs.
• Participate in industry forums and conferences.
• Collaborate with business development managers on new opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience or Master's with 10+ years.
• Experience in transmission analytics such as load flow, stability, protection, and short circuit studies.
• Electrical engineering background with at least 10 years of related experience.
• Understanding of transmission policies, FERC tariffs, NERC standards, and interconnection procedures is a plus.
• Professional Engineering license preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel.
