NorthWestern Energy seeks a South Dakota Transmission Planning Engineer to oversee transmission planning for its SD system and coordinate with the SPP footprint. This role requires an engineering degree and offers opportunities to influence reliability and growth across the service territory.

The position may involve travel up to 15% for off-site meetings and training, with potential for growth and professional development within a regulated utility environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Professional Engineer licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Northwestern Energy's primary transmission planning representative for SPP planning processes.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, SPP zonal members, SPP committees, and regulators to develop transmission solutions.
• Develop base cases and conduct transmission system studies using power flow and stability tools.
• Lead planning studies and coordinate data requests with SPP and internal groups.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management, regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
