Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Protection and Control (P&C) Engineer for the Transmission System Operations Engineering (TSOE). The role supports compliance with NERC standards and leads complex configuration changes to the transmission grid.

You will review outages, verify as-built vs. record drawings, and perform root-cause analysis to improve processes and relay settings. On-site roles available in New Albany, OH or Roanoke, VA.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering plus 2+ years of related experience.
• Master’s or PhD in engineering may enter SG7/SG8 with relevant credentials.
• PE license encouraged and preferred; cross-state recognition may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering leadership and guidance within the group.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute complex protection and control projects.
• Review outages and ensure configuration changes align with records.
• Perform root-cause analysis and drive process improvements.
• Communicate results clearly to management and regulatory bodies.
