Job summary

Arizona G&T Cooperatives is seeking a Substation Apparatus Technician Apprentice to maintain transmission lines and equipment. The role requires enrollment in a four-year apprenticeship, willingness for on-call maintenance, and the ability to train others in line equipment.

The position involves live-line work, switching, and construction support, with emphasis on safety and accurate record-keeping. A high school diploma and CDL Class A within one year are required indicators for progression.

Qualifications

• Enrollment and completion of a four-year apprenticeship program recognized by the State Apprenticeship Council.
• Willingness to perform maintenance on a call-out basis.
• Ability to train and orient other personnel in transmission line equipment.
• Commitment to safety and maintaining a good safety record.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all transmission lines owned or controlled by the Cooperative or interconnecting systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections to locate issues and ensure system integrity.
• Maintain logs and records of work performed for efficient operations and inventory.
• Keep equipment clean and properly cared for to ensure safety and proper functioning.
• Perform switching on the electric system per established procedures.
• Perform live line work as assigned.
• Assist in construction and maintenance work as directed.
• Serve as a technical consultant to managers and engineering staff during inspections.
• Operate light and heavy mobile line equipment and vehicles safely.
