Job summary

Great Southwestern Construction is seeking a Traveling Apprentice Lineman to construct and maintain electrical line projects, including underground, transmission, substations and wind farms. This role involves significant travel, with most work in the southern states.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, experience with heavy utility equipment, and a valid CDL Class A preferred. The job emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to company ethics in a dynamic field setting.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to travel and work away from home
• High School graduate or equivalent required
• Experience with digger derricks, bucket trucks, trenchers, and groundwork with utility crews is required
• Must meet driver qualification requirements as specified in FMCSR Parts 382 and 391
• Possession of a valid Commercial driver's license Class A preferred

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain all phases of electrical line construction including underground, transmission, substations and wind farms
• Establish OSHA and customer safety requirements
• Plan and initiate projects
• Set towers and poles
• Maintain and repair overhead distribution or transmission lines
• String new wire or maintain old wire
• Install and maintain insulators, transformers, and other equipment
• Assemble and erect substation structures
• Maintain regular attendance
• Follow Company Code of Business Conduct and Ethics
