Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Transmission Line Design Engineer in the United States to design and analyze transmission structures using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE, applying NESC, GO95, and related standards while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

You will perform foundation design, conduct underbuild or attachment analyses, prepare construction packages, and support proposal efforts, with mentorship under a licensed PE and opportunities to own design decisions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
2+ years of relevant experience in electric utility transmission line design.
Proficiency in both PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while staying plugged into a team.
Candidates must be located in the United States to be considered.

Responsibilities

Perform structure spotting and transmission line design in PLS-CADD to verify conductor clearances and loading under NESC or GO95.
Design and analyze steel, wood, concrete, or fiberglass transmission structures using PLS-POLE, including structure selection and loading verification.
Underbuild/joint-use or attachment analysis, when required.
Perform foundation design or analysis for direct-embed and drilled-pier structures in MFAD or LPILE.
Prepare construction packages, including drawings, materials lists, and data sheets.
Coordinate with the Construction prime on material procurement and specs.
Perform conductor selection and EMF studies.
Attend field walks and constructability reviews as needed.
Support proposal/estimating efforts.
