Job summary

Verdantas is seeking a mid-level Transmission Line Engineer to join our Energy Services team in Houston, TX. The role involves design and analysis of overhead transmission lines, using PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE/PLS-TOWER, and mentoring junior staff on multi-discipline projects.

The ideal candidate has 4–8 years of experience, a Civil/Structural/Electrical engineering degree, and a PE license or plan to obtain within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering (or closely related field).
• 4–8 years of transmission line engineering experience.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER.
• Working knowledge of the NESC and ASCE and utility design standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission line design and analysis using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER for voltages up to 500 kV.
• Develop structure loading, framing, and connection designs per standards.
• Prepare plan-and-profile drawings, material lists, and construction packages.
• Perform sag-tension, clearance, and loading calculations.
• Coordinate foundation design with structural/geotechnical staff.
• Support field data collection and LiDAR-based modeling.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers and interface with clients.
