Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineer to support transmission projects for a utility service territory. This role covers engineering, design, analysis and execution of line projects from concept through construction, with a blend of office, field and project work.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transmission line design, familiarity with PLS-CADD/PLS-TOWER/PLS-POLE/MFAD, and the ability to manage complex assignments independently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years of engineering experience.
• 2+ years of direct Transmission Line Design experience.
• Experience within the electric utility industry.
• Proficiency with transmission line design software, including PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, MFAD or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer overhead transmission line projects, including routing, siting, conceptual design, and detailed engineering.
• Perform structural, foundation, and electrical design calculations in line with codes and industry best practices.
• Develop project scopes, cost estimates, technical specifications, engineering packages, and design documents.
• Utilize design software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE and related tools.
• Analyze engineering challenges and recommend practical solutions.
• Support project execution through planning, scheduling, design reviews, and coordination with stakeholders.
• Provide construction support, field evaluations, and troubleshooting of design issues.
• Modify designs to address construction constraints and environmental considerations.
• Manage multiple projects while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, environmental, permitting, and project management teams.

We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineer to support transmission infrastructure projects across a utility service territory. This role is responsible for the engineering, design, analysis, and execution of transmission line projects from concept through construction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transmission line design, experience with industry-standard design software, and the ability to independently manage complex engineering assignments. This position offers a blend of office, field, and project-based work, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective transmission solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer overhead transmission line projects, including routing, siting, conceptual design, and detailed engineering.
• Perform structural, foundation, and electrical design calculations in accordance with applicable design standards, codes, and industry best practices.
• Develop project scopes, cost estimates, technical specifications, engineering packages, and design documentation.
• Utilize transmission line design software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, and related tools.
• Analyze engineering challenges, evaluate alternatives, and recommend practical solutions.
• Support project execution through planning, scheduling, design reviews, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide construction support, field evaluations, troubleshooting, and resolution of design-related issues.
• Modify designs as needed to address construction constraints, environmental considerations, and stakeholder concerns.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with engineering, construction, environmental, permitting, and project management teams.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and presentations for project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
• 5+ years of engineering experience.
• 2+ years of direct Transmission Line Design experience.
• Experience within the electric utility industry.
• Proficiency with transmission line design software, including: PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, MFAD, or similar tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting transmission line projects through construction and commissioning.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Familiarity with transmission line routing and siting studies.
• Experience developing conceptual designs and project cost estimates.
• Knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
