Job summary

Coalesce Management Consulting is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Design Engineer to support major utility transmission projects from 69kV to 765kV, overseeing the engineering and design of overhead and underground lines through development, construction, and commissioning.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with transmission line design, structural analysis, NESC compliance, and PLS-CADD, with the ability to interpret drawings and geotechnical reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience designing overhead and/or underground transmission lines.
  • Strong understanding of transmission line design principles and utility standards.
  • Knowledge of NESC, ASCE Manual 74, IEEE standards.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, survey information, and geotechnical reports.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design overhead and underground transmission lines from 69kV to 765kV.
  • Perform line routing, structure spotting, conductor selection, and sag & tension calculations.
  • Conduct structural loading analyses and design line structures and foundations.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, design packages, specs, and construction docs.
  • Perform clearance and loading calculations per NESC and utility standards.
  • Coordinate with Substation, Civil, Geotechnical, Environmental, Survey, ROW teams.
  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and construction documents.
  • Support field inspections, construction activities, and commissioning.
  • Ensure designs comply with NESC, IEEE, ASCE and regulations.
  • Support line rebuilds, relocations, upgrades, and new-build projects.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line Design Engineer to support major utility transmission projects ranging from 69kV to 765kV. This role will be responsible for the engineering and design of overhead and underground transmission lines, supporting projects from initial development through construction and commissioning.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience with transmission line design, structural analysis, NESC compliance, and PLS-CADD.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design overhead and underground transmission lines ranging from approximately 69kV to 765kV.
  • Perform line routing, structure spotting, conductor selection, and sag & tension calculations.
  • Conduct structural loading analyses and design transmission line structures, foundations, and associated hardware.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, design packages, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Perform clearance, loading, and other transmission line calculations in accordance with NESC and utility standards.
  • Coordinate with Substation, Civil, Geotechnical, Environmental, Survey, and Right‑of‑Way (ROW) teams.
  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and construction documentation.
  • Support field inspections, construction activities, and commissioning as needed.
  • Ensure designs comply with NESC, IEEE, ASCE, utility standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Support transmission line rebuilds, relocations, upgrades, and greenfield projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional experience designing overhead and/or underground transmission lines.
  • Strong understanding of transmission line design principles, structural analysis, and utility standards.
  • Knowledge of NESC, ASCE Manual 74, IEEE standards, and transmission design practices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, survey information, and geotechnical reports.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience with high‑voltage transmission projects from 69kV–765kV.
  • Experience supporting transmission construction and field activities.
  • Experience with transmission line rebuilds, relocations, and new‑build projects.
