Job description

Transmission Line Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineer to join our growing network of energy professionals supporting major utility and infrastructure projects across the Western U.S. This role offers the opportunity to design, manage, and deliver overhead transmission line projects (up to 765kV) that strengthen grid reliability and enable a cleaner energy future.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the engineering, design, and execution of transmission line projects.
• Develop and review engineering plans, layouts, structure drawings, and technical specifications.
• Utilize PLS-CADD and related software to complete transmission line designs.
• Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and utility clients to ensure project milestones are achieved.
• Support project scheduling, cost estimating, and construction planning.
• Provide technical expertise and mentoring for junior engineers.
• Participate in client meetings, site visits, and field support as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• 5+ years of experience in transmission line design and engineering.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and transmission line design principles.
• Knowledge of NESC, RUS, or other industry standards.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to Have

• Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, ArcGIS, or foundation design software.
• Field construction, cost estimating, or subcontractor management experience.
• Advanced degree (MBA or MS in Engineering) and/or involvement in IEEE, ASCE, or CIGRE.
• Familiarity with utility-scale projects across California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, or Wyoming.
