Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to design and support overhead and underground transmission line projects for electric utility clients in Fort Mill, South Carolina. You will contribute to safe, reliable, and cost-effective grid modernization and renewable energy integration efforts.

Responsibilities include performing engineering analysis, developing design packages, supporting planning and budgeting, preparing technical documents, and assisting with proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• 2-5 years of engineering experience supporting utility or transmission projects.
• Exposure to transmission line design, power systems, or utility engineering preferred.

Job description

We are seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to support the design, engineering, and execution of overhead and underground transmission line projects for electric utility and energy clients. This position will contribute to the delivery of safe, reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality transmission infrastructure projects, including grid modernization, renewable energy integration, and system expansion initiatives.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Perform engineering analysis, design, and technical support for transmission line projects.
• Develop transmission line design packages, calculations, drawings, and supporting documentation.
• Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
• Prepare engineering reports, calculations, technical specifications, and construction support documents.
• Support proposal preparation, project cost estimating, and scope development.
• Understanding of transmission line routing, structure design, conductor selection, clearances, foundations, grounding, shielding, and load analysis.
• Conduct site visits and provide construction-phase engineering support when required.

Must Haves:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical) from an ABET-accredited university.
• 2-5 years of engineering experience supporting utility, power delivery, transmission, or related infrastructure projects.
• Exposure to transmission line design, power systems, or utility engineering preferred.

Plusses:

• Experience supporting transmission line projects at voltages of 69kV and above.
• Working knowledge of applicable industry standards including NESC, ASCE, ACI, and IEEE.
• Experience with transmission line design and analysis with PLS-CADD

Compensation:

$85,000 - $105,000/yr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
