Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Transmission Engineer to join our Power Delivery team in Escondido, CA. This in-office role focuses on guiding projects from inception through delivery, with leadership responsibilities and client relationship development.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years in Power Delivery, hands-on design experience, and strong mentoring and business development capabilities in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related Engineering field (Master’s preferred).
• California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in Power Delivery (transmission, substation, power studies/design, or related fields).
• Demonstrated business development experience, including proposal writing and building strong client networks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee technical work for Power Delivery projects (Transmission and Distribution Design – Overhead and Underground).
• Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, NERC, GO, and local utility standards.
• Prepare technical deliverables (engineering plans, specifications, reports).
• Assist with permitting and regulator coordination for timely approvals.
• Use AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, MFAD, CAISSON, SAG10, LPile for design and analysis.
