Job summary

APS (Arizona Public Service) is seeking an Engineer III/Senior to apply technical knowledge to complex Transmission & Distribution projects, developing standards, material specs, and design guides. You will evaluate materials, support design groups, and lead engineering decisions with internal and external stakeholders.

Hybrid work is available; travel and after-hours support may be required. The role requires a four-year ABET-accredited engineering degree and 5–8 years of engineering

Qualifications

• Problem analysis/resolution techniques including research and comparison of various vendor spec sheets towards T&D Standards specifications.
• Experience with Transmission, Substation, and Distribution Design and materials utilized & construction/maintenance methods.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with internal and external stakeholders including supply chain, construction/maintenance, engineering design, leadership and vendor manufactures.
• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods and safety standards in the area of applicable engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and prepares data, technical reviews and evaluations to aid decision making.
• Identifies, communicates and advocates resolution of technical concerns while adhering to sound engineering principles.
• Ensures T&D standards and designs are of high quality, cost effective, compliant with codes and regulations.
• Interfaces with customers or cross-organizational teams to assess needs and determine project scope.
• Provides oversight of engineering programs and coordinates corrective actions to meet standards.
