MSD Malaysia seeks a motivated graduate student for a 12-week internship in our Translational Medicine team. Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Human Genetics, Genomics, Pharmacogenomics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience analyzing genomic or next-generation sequencing (NGS) data and familiarity with FASTQ, BAM/CRAM, VCF, FASTA formats.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or other scientific programming languages; experience in Linux/Unix environments.
• Strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate in a multidisciplinary research setting.
• Familiarity with pharmacogenomics concepts and cloud computing is a plus.
• Must be enrolled in an academic program and returning to continue studies after internship.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret genomic and pharmacogenomic datasets using bioinformatics approaches.
• Evaluate data from array-based, short-read, and long-read sequencing technologies.
• Develop and apply analytical workflows to support genomic characterization and translational research.
• Collaborate with scientists across disciplines to generate biological insights and support precision medicine.
• Communicate results through presentations, reports, and reproducible documentation.
