Job summary

Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to staff our 20-bed transitional care unit. The role offers FT or PT options with every other weekend and shift choices 7a-3p or a 7a-3p / 3p-11p rotation.

In this position, you will supervise direct resident care, oversee nursing assistants, ensure regulatory compliance, review physician orders, and conduct rounds. You will administer medications and document care daily, with base pay $40–$44 per hour plus applicable diffs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN program.
• Current RN license in Massachusetts.
• Geriatric nursing knowledge required.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience in Skilled Nursing a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and evaluates all direct resident care and initiates corrective action as necessary.
• Provides clinical supervision of nursing assistants providing direct resident care.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations within the unit.
• Ensures physician renewal orders and physician documentation is timely and appropriate.
• Conducts resident rounds, reporting problems to nursing supervisor and initiating corrective action.
• Identifies resident problems and emergencies, and initiates life saving measures within the scope of nursing practice.
• Administers and documents medications, enteral nutrition, and treatments per the physician's order and accurately records all care provided and observations daily.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Supervises and evaluates all direct resident care and initiates corrective action as necessary.
• Provides clinical supervision of nursing assistants providing direct resident care
• Assumes responsibility for compliance with federal, state and local regulations within the assigned unit.
• Ensures that all physician renewal orders and physician documentation is timely and appropriate.
• Conducts resident rounds, reporting problems to nursing supervisor and initiating corrective action.
• Identifies resident problems and emergency situations, and initiates immediate "life saving" measures within the scope of nursing practice and in accordance with advance directives.
• Administers and documents medications, enteral nutrition, and treatments per the physician's order and accurately records all care provided and observations daily.

Prerequisites:

• Graduate of an accredited RN school of Nursing.
• Current license in Massachusetts as RN.
• Knowledge of Geriatric Nursing required.
• Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support in accordance with American Heart Association or American Red Cross standards required.
• Experience working in a Skilled Nursing environment a plus
