Job summary

SASED is seeking a Transition Program Teacher (Title: Transition Program Teacher) to provide comprehensive instruction for students aged 18-22 with developmental and physical disabilities in diverse settings including classroom, community, job sites, and home visits if appropriate.

The role collaborates with a program administrator, engages in IEP development and progress reporting, and uses team-based strategies to support student growth and independence in daily living, academics, and social

Qualifications

  • LBS-1 license is required.
  • Experience with transition-age students preferred or related evidence of certification.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in transdisciplinary team meetings, multidisciplinary staffing, annual reviews, parent conferences, and faculty meetings.
  • Communicate frequently with parents and elicit input in educational planning and implementation.
  • Collaborate with team to develop and modify goals/objectives on student IEPs, ensuring they are outcome-based and aligned with standards.
  • Implement student IEPs using appropriate teaching methods and adaptations for individual needs.
  • Apply non-aversive behavior management techniques and provide positive programming.
  • Implement the Multi-Needs Functional Curriculum across community living, functional academics, vocational, and embedded social, communication and motor skills.
  • Design, revise, and maintain a class schedule based on IEP goals.
  • Develop instructional programs from IEP goals and facilitate cooperative learning.
  • Provide opportunities for peer interaction to form friendships and networks.
  • Implement programs and procedures advised by transdisciplinary team members.
  • Demonstrate leadership with paraprofessionals and collect performance data to report progress on timelines.
