Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies - Workers Compensation Division in San Diego, CA seeks a Transition and Development Unit Supervisor. You’ll lead and develop Claims Professionals, manage workflow, and ensure compliant, efficient claims handling across jurisdictions.

Responsibilities include training, coaching, enforcing policy, and coordinating with Medical Management, Legal, and Subrogation teams to achieve timely closures and high client satisfaction. California licensing is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of workers compensation adjusting experience; supervisory experience preferred.
• California claims adjustment licensing/credentialing required.
• Ability to read and interpret complex documents and statutes.
• Proficiency in Excel and claim cost analysis is expected.
• Experience with Salesforce and Office productivity tools.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Transition and Development Unit members, directing work and training.
• Ensure compliance with policies, statutes, regs across jurisdictions and timely claims handling.
• Manage reserves, benefits payments, and cost containment while maintaining service levels.
• Facilitate collaboration with Medical Management, Legal and Subrogation teams and external vendors.
• Oversee onboarding and development, and coordinate supplemental adjuster staffing as needed.
• Lead performance reviews, coaching, and career growth for team members.
