Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a dedicated professional to join the Vocational Rehabilitation Department. This role focuses on coordinating transition services, coaching students, and securing work-based learning opportunities to help prepare transition students for successful employment.

Responsibilities include collaboration with counselors and the Business Development Specialist, providing job coaching, and ensuring ongoing support during job transitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Vocational Evaluation, Rehabilitation Counseling, Technical or Adult Education, or Psychology, and two years of rehabilitation or related experience.
• A high school diploma and related experience may substitute for the required bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with counselors to assist with Pre-Employment Transition Services for transition students.
• Coordinate with the Business Development Specialist to secure work-based learning experiences for transition students.
• Coach and monitor students in JRT services during the summer.
• Prepare consumers for effective job searches with instruction, support, networking, and resources.
• Provide direct job placement and follow-up for student consumers needing assistance.
• Support students requiring supported employment services with coaching, job matching, training, and follow-up.

• Coordinating with the Business Development Specialist (BDS) to make new and existing employer contacts to secure work-based learning experiences, to include job shadowing, job tryout, internship, summer employment, school-based work experiences and other community-based evaluation opportunities for transition students.
• Assisting in coaching and monitoring students participating in JRT services during the summer.
• Preparing consumers to have an effective job search by providing instruction, personal and peer support, networking opportunities, and provision of employment resources.
• Providing direct job placement and follow-up for all student consumers who require assistance.
• Supporting students identified as requiring supported employment services by providing job coaching support services and supported employment services such as job matching, job analysis, intensive on-the-job training, social skills training, identification of natural supports, and follow up services including assisting in the identification of an extended service provider.
• Providing on-going support during the transition of student's initial job adjustment and monitor progress regarding work performance and document consumer's adjustment.
• Providing job coaching for applicants participating in Trial Work Experiences (TWE).
