Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking personnel to support the Vocational Rehabilitation Department in helping individuals with disabilities attain competitive employment.

The role involves coordinating vocational counseling, assessments, career exploration, and job placement while developing individualized plans for employment and maintaining caseloads. Strong communication with diverse stakeholders and adherence to CSPD guidelines are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Psychology or other CSPD qualifying degree.
• Ability to counsel students and youth with disabilities toward vocational goals using IPE.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with consumers, vendors, employers, medical community, and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist eligible South Carolinians with disabilities to achieve competitive employment by coordinating services (vocational counseling, guidance, and direct job placement).
• Conduct and coordinate communication assessments, vocational assessments, career exploration, and job preparation instruction; design an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).
• Complete caseload management activities weekly.
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

In this position you will perform the following job duties:

• Prepare & assist eligible South Carolinians with disabilities to achieve and maintain competitive employment by coordinating services to include vocational counseling, guidance, and direct job placement. (Transition Caseload)

• Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Psychology or other degree qualifying under CSPD guidelines.
• Ability to counsel and advise students and youth with various physical mental disabilities toward a vocational goal through Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE) and consideration of the consumers' interest, abilities and needs.
• Should be able to communicate effectively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, vendors, employers, the medical community, and coworkers.
• Must be able to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
