Job summary

The MBTA Vehicle Engineering (VE) Department seeks motivated engineers to contribute to new vehicle initiatives and overhaul programs for buses, railcars, and ferries in Greater Boston. You will participate in testing, specification development, and root-cause analysis to improve fleet reliability and safety.

Ideal candidates hold a B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, have 3+ years in transit vehicle engineering, and are proficient with CAD tools and data analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
• 3 years of experience in mechanical or electrical engineering in transportation.
• Ability to comprehend operational, mechanical, and electrical characteristics of transit vehicles.
• Knowledge of CAD/engineering tools and software.

Responsibilities

• Develop specifications for new vehicles or overhaul projects.
• Perform vehicle compliance testing and certification.
• Review drawings, manuals and test procedures.
• Inspect systems and components at vendor facilities and analyze test data.
• Prepare test reports and presentations; support warranty analyses.
