The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) seeks engineers to support the Vehicle Engineering Department in developing specifications for new and overhaul vehicles, performing compliance testing, and reviewing subsystems for reliability. You will participate in design reviews, inspect components, analyze test data, and contribute to ensuring long-term fleet performance.

Applicants should have a mechanical or electrical engineering background, 3 years’ transit experience, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Three years of experience in mechanical or electrical engineering in the transportation industry.
Knowledge of operation and maintenance of bus and rail transit vehicles.

Responsabilités

Assist with preparation of vehicle technical specifications (new/overhaul).
Participate in design performance review meetings to evaluate vehicle and system design requirements.
Inspect systems and components at vendor or car builder facilities.
Review drawings, manuals and test procedures.
Conduct failure analysis testing of systems/components.
